Parliamentary elections in the Czech Republic will be held on October 3 and 4 this year, with 200 deputies elected to the lower house of the Czech Parliament. This election will define the country's political direction for the next four years, as it determines the composition of the next government. The party or coalition that obtains a majority (101 seats or more) will form an executive.
According to the latest polls, there is a high probability that we will have a new government led by the ANO party, with far-right conservative forces increasing their presence and traditional left-wing leaders making an effort to return to parliament, sacrificing part of the traditional left-wing agenda along the way.
The major issues to be addressed are undoubtedly economic policy (the pension system, the fiscal budget, and the welfare state), the Czech position on the war in Ukraine, the Czech position on the genocide in Gaza, environmental policies, policies on gender and women's rights, housing policy, etc. What can we expect from the country's new political landscape? It's the question that guides our meeting.
