Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Carousel revolves around the ill-fated love affair between Billy Bigelow, a swaggering, carefree carnival barker, and gentle millworker Julie Jordan. Marrying only weeks after they first meet, against everyone’s advice, their relationship hits a rocky road as Billy struggles with financial difficulties and the constraints of settling down. On learning he is to become a father, Billy vows to change his ways and provide for his family, but he falls in with the wrong crowd and dies in the aftermath of a robbery gone horribly wrong.
Sent to purgatory for 15 years, Billy is given one day to return to earth to redeem his soul, where he reaches out to his daughter. But is it too little too late?
