It's happening! Join the Island Park Preservation Society and Bike Newport on Saturday Nov. 1st for our third annual Sakonnet Coastal Bike + Stroll. This new community tradition features three glorious hours of car-free fun along the Portsmouth, RI coast!
This is a great chance to reclaim the road and enjoy the beautiful views of Island Park and The Hummocks on your own two feet, wheels or paws.
Totally Free: This is a 100% FREE community event for everyone.
Family-Friendly: Bring the whole crew! Kids, friends, neighbors and well-behaved, leashed furry companions are all welcome.
Roll or Stroll: You're free to bike, walk, run, push a stroller or use any other form of non-motorized transport.

The road will be safely closed from 9am to 12pm along:
Park Ave (starting just east of Mason Ave)
Point Rd
Hummock Point Rd
Hummocks Ave (extending through the railroad overpass at Anthony Rd)
Plus, the route connects directly to the separated bike lane crossing the Sakonnet River Bridge, which is perfect for Tiverton residents biking or walking over!
There isn't an official start or finish line so just hop on the car-free route wherever you meet it and enjoy the ride!

A Few Key Reminders
Safety First: Helmets are strongly encouraged for all riders. Please look out for one another as you share the route.
Timing: The road is closed to cars strictly between 8:30am and 12pm. Please be sure to exit the route before noon when motor vehicle traffic will resume.
Parking: If you are driving to the area, you can find parking along the southern end of Boyd’s Lane and portions of Anthony Rd (west of the overpass).
Registration: All participants MUST complete our waiver before riding or walking. We strongly encourage everyone to do this step ahead of time, but we will have volunteers available on event day to assist with sign-ups.
