Intro to Leather Carving

Learn the basics of leather carving in an interactive setting! Leave with a coaster crafted by you out of leather, and the knowledge to create many more things. Basic equipment and materials will be provided as part of your payment - you provide the interest, and the addiction can start from there.

This will require some finger strength and dexterity to manipulate the swivel knife, to cut the design into the leather before the tooling begins.

Materials for this class are included, and yours to keep afterwards. You are welcome to bring your own tools and materials if you have them, but please ensure you have all of the following:

• Marble/granite slab (I started off using a brick, so, this is somewhat negotiable)
• Soft faced Mallet - 12 oz or heavier
• Scratch awl or stylus
• Swivel knife
• Beveler
• Pear shader
• Camouflage tool
• Scalloped veiner
• Textured veiner
• Backgrounding tool
• Seeder
• Mulesfoot
• Basketweave

This class needs a minimum of 5 attendees to run

Open to ages 18 and up. 12 and up may attend but will not be provided tools.

Instructor Bio:

Justin has been an instructor in various venues, and is the owner/artisan of Raven Lunatic Leather, LLC. He crafts custom and bespoke tooled leather goods, and is eager to share what he has learned.

Masks are encouraged.
