At the end of 1982 an album came out who’s impact forever changed the music industry and the landscape of pop. It merged rock and r’n’b. It substantially closed the gap between ’black culture’ and ’pop culture.’ And its promotionally campaign elevated the music video to an art form which ushered in the era of MTV as a dominant taste maker. 43 years later the songs endure and are rediscovered by each new generation.
