With lots of buzz around “Dark Feminine Energy,” the concept of stepping into our power has become understandably alluring. The “Light Feminine Energy” traits of healing and service to others have come to be expected rather than cultivated, but these traits are not mutually exclusive. By splitting her year between the blossoming earth and the Underworld, Persephone teaches us that duality is natural, and both aspects should work together and enhance one another. While interpretations of Hades’ part in her story vary, the undeniable truth is that she was crowned Queen of the Underworld. Likewise, shadow work is not about others, but how we value ourselves.
In this ritual, we will craft organic spell jars that will nurture our shadows and empower the dark feminine within, embracing our natural duality. With Persephone's guidance, this introspective journey through the dark season will come to its close with the renewal of Spring, when the contents of our jars will be planted.
Participants may bring a journal, talisman, or offering if they wish. They do not need to have an established relationship with Persephone, only respect.
Juniper Deadwick considers herself a hedge witch, placing nature at the center of her practice. Her primary methods include herbals, household hearth craft, animal allies, and spirit work, with an avid interest in folklore and mythology. Persephone was the first deity to reach out to Juniper in her practice. This relationship has since grown to also include her mother, Demeter, and the crone, Baubo. Persephone remains one of Juniper’s patron deities, along with the Lithuanian forest goddess, Medeinė. Though her work is mainly solitary, she enjoys sharing knowledge with others, and connecting to honor the seasons and Wheel of the Year!
Workshops will take place in the Deadwick's Common Room and run approximately 1-1.5 hours. Please enter through the front of Deadwick's upon arrival, at 19 Sheafe St. and allow time for parking. Please call ahead if you are running late.
