DIY Skills - Electrical

Ready to tackle those home projects you've been putting off? Our course in basic electrical skills at UHI North West and Hebrides - Portree is designed to give you the confidence you need to get started safely and effectively. You'll learn the essentials of wiring a ring final circuit (commonly called a ring main) for home sockets and setting up two-way lighting, so you can control a single light from multiple switches. You'll be working with real equipment and an expert instructor, ensuring you build both your skills and confidence from the very first session.

Don't let a lack of experience hold you back. This is your chance to learn some of the skills in a valuable trade and feel empowered to handle your own home projects confidently.

Please note this is a 4 week course, the dates are as follows:

Week 1

Monday 27th and Tuesday 28th October - 9.30am - 3.30pm

Week 2

Monday 3rd and Tuesday 4th November - 9.30am - 3.30pm

Week 3

Monday 10th and Tuesday 11th November - 9.30am - 3.30pm

Week 4

Monday 17th and Tuesday 18th November - 9.30am - 3.30pm

Cancellation Policy 

UHI North, West & Hebrides reserves the right to cancel or defer the dates of the courses. 

In the event of UHI NWH cancelling a course, delegates will be deferred to another (scheduled UHI NWH) course or given a full refund if UHI NWH are unable to provide a course on dates suitable to the learner. 

In the event of cancellation of a course by the delegate, business or their representative, the following charges will apply: 

More than 28 days notice – 0% of course fee charged 

15-28 days – 25% of fee charged 

7 to 14 days – 50% of course fee charged 

7 days or less – 100% of course fee charged
