Magic, Trauma, and Bears? Oh my! This fantastical production of The Winter’s Tale dabbles in the repair and healing after trauma, with a magical twist. Watch lovebirds flirt, friends gossip, and enemies spread devastating rumors. Time is of the essence…or do they have more Time than they think?
The Winter’s Tale is the story of Leontes, a jealous king (sensing another theme here) and Hermoine, his innocent wife. Leontes suspects Hermoine of cheating on him with fellow king and best friend Polixines. Apollo’s oracle confirms Hermoine’s innocence but Leontes refuses to hear it and their son is struck dead as punishment. The story could end there in tragedy save for the noble efforts of Paulina, an advocate for Hermoine, the generosity of a Shepard, the actions of a bear, and the intervention of Time, herself. Young love also blooms in The Winter’s Tale between Leontes and Hermoine’s daughter, Perdita, and Florizel, son to Polixines. The Winter’s Tale features Salt and Sage regulars Paul Susi as Leontes, Peter Schuyler as Polixines, Christian Gutierrez as Florizel, Caitlin Nolan as Paulina, and David Heath as Shepard. Nina Pamintuan makes her Salt and Sage debut as Hermoine and Hanne Laure’l makes theirs as Perdita.
