I will be guiding a free paddle around Ross Island Loop
September 7th
Paddles in the water 9:00am
Inflatable Paddlers, get there early to inflate your board and be ready to paddle at 9.
Willamette Park Boat Ramp - map below
This session will guide you on the Willamette to build your confidence on flatwater rivers and current/wind navigation. We will stop on the island for a break for 30 minutes. My intention is that this is a learning experience for those interested in paddling the Willamette for the first time or would like guided experience.
I will provide guidance on:
Paddling in Currents
Paddling in the Wind
Managing Boat Wakes
River Paddling Etiquette - Sharing the water
This is approximately 4.5 miles.
We will take a break at the North Tip of Ross Island
Although we will be keeping a moderate pace, if you feel you can’t manage the distance please reach out for a 1:1 for guidance as this is a group event and I need to keep everyone together.
You must be able to swim confidently with or without a PFD to attend this session. If you’re not a confident swimmer we can schedule a 1:1 before you go out in a group session.
Wear bright colors so you will be seen by boaters!
MUSTS:
Wear your PFD
Waterway Access Permit
Sound Device; ie whistle
