Grasshopper pinning class

Learn the techniques of relaxing, pinning, and drying dead rainbow milkweed locust (Phymateus karschi) or giant tropical grasshopper (Tropidacris dux) specimens.

Base ticket includes instruction, zoo admission, pins, styrofoam pinning block, and one locust. Optional shadow box and full pinning kit add-ons available.

​Due to limited space, everyone attending must purchase a ticket. Recommended age 10+ as pinning requires fine motor skills and uses sharp objects. Kids under age 15 must have an adult present with a ticket. If you are accompanying someone and do not want to pin a bug, please purchase the $10 parent/guest ticket. ​
