Free Self-Defense Workshop for the LGBTQIA+ Community

Hello Shaolin Community!

While we're gearing up for our summer demo, we've also had another announcement brewing.

We will be holding our LGBTQIA+ self defense workshop this year on September 21, 1 pm – 2:30 pm.

This year we are collaborating with @marieequi.center to expand our reach to the community. Their mission is to empower & improve the health of LGBTQIA2S+ folks in the Pacific Northwest, and we are very excited to work with them! The workshop will be held in their gymnasium, at the center in Southeast Portland.

The workshop covers subjects that are designed to be accessible by anyone, even if they have no martial arts experience. In past workshops we have covered techniques for things like throat defense, wrist grabs, hair grabs, knife defense, and more. We usually also leave space at the end of the workshop to address any specific anxieties or concerns that participants might have in regards to safety and self defense.
