Filmmakers from the 2025 MOFF discuss the story behind their storytelling. How they got access to the places and faces in their films. Topic subject to change based on filmmaker availability
Tentative Panelists:
Erika Valenciana- Filmmaker, BROKEN FLIGHT
Erika Valenciana is an award-winning Chicana filmmaker from Chicago. She is a Film & Video graduate of Columbia College Chicago. Her work has been supported by Tribeca Film Institute, Kartemquin Films, Stowe Story Labs, Cine Qua Non Lab, Chicago’s Department of Cultural Affairs, Illinois Arts Council, Puffin Foundation, Ragdale Foundation, Allied Media Conference, DC Environmental Film Festival, Chicago International Film Festival, and Full Spectrum Features. Valenciana shares underrepresented stories to build towards a media landscape where diverse experiences are uplifted.
Noah Keates - Filmmaker, AROUND THE COVE
Noah Keates is a documentary filmmaker from Portland, ME, specializing in verite storytelling and outdoor adventure film. As a producer for Lone Wolf Media in South Portland, he has worked on all genres of docuseries from Animal Rescue to True Crime Investigation to Shipwreck Discovery. He is an avid trail runner as well and loves to spotlight individuals across the sport.
Joseph Fletcher- Filmmaker, BRIDGERS
Joseph is a LA-based director and editor. His background in action sports documentary content has honed his voice as a verite storyteller who directs and produces authentic and emotive content. As an editor he has crafted content for global brands like Nike, Meta, Google, and Oakley.
Bernardo Arsuaga - Filmmaker, THE WEEKEND SAILOR
Bernardo is a filmmaker and lawyer from Monterrey, Mexico. He is married with three kids and is currently based in Montreal, Quebec.
Michael Crater - Filmmaker, WHEN I’M IN THE WATER
Michael Crater is the co-director, cinematographer, and editor of When I’m in the Water, a documentary short that reveals how giving back to the planet and finding camaraderie can help relieve the struggles of aging. His mission is to inspire more people to engage with the natural world by sharing stories that highlight the importance of a healthy relationship with nature.
