COME JOIN US…..
September is Bushwalking Victoria’s "Try Bushwalking Month"..........
It's a great opportunity to discover Bushwalking or gather some very useful tips with an information session hosted by the Friends of the Great South West Walk.
It sounds so easy, but often if you have no experience or friends interested, it remains only a dream. Well, let us help you get started. Sarah Sharp, one of the many Friends of the GSWW, is hosting an Information Session in the Portland Glenelg Library. She will help you get the confidence and resources to take the plunge with family and/or friends to explore our incredible natural environment. Whether you want to walk with other adults, children, grandparents, family, all your questions will be answered.
The information session will show you gear, clothing, maps, and planning needed to go for a walk in the bush. And the group will discuss all the different options there are with walking. It will be a very casual talk, with a lot of discussion between the host and all the participants.
There will be Guidebooks and maps available to purchase, along with some take home check lists and information.
This Information Session will be held at the Portland Glenelg Library meeting room, at 2pm on Friday 19thSeptember. Please contact Sarah on 0417 051 020 to register.

About our Club: The Friends of the Great South West Walk is a volunteer group that manages and maintains the Great South West Walk, along side Parks Vic. The Friends lead monthly walks, on a Saturday and a Monday, and some Thursdays. Walking with the Friends is a great way to tap into the knowledge of the area’s history, flora and fauna and meet a friendly bunch of people. The Friends also have many volunteers working on the maintenance of the Great South West Walk and its promotion. The club is always welcoming new Friends or volunteers.
