Rehearsed reading and discussion

The book : Enemy Alien - Walter’s Journey through Adversity is a story of immigration, showing how Ireland gave home to immigrants. After coming to Northern Ireland in 1947, the Sekules family established a knitting factory in Kilkeel. The Factory was open from 1950-2023, until Walter Sekules’s death, often employing a hundred women at a time, providing work during the Troubles and contributing to a peaceful coexistence.

Walter's story is told in Csilla's book Enemy Alien - Walter's Journey Through Adversity (2024) an illustrated children’s book for 8-12 year old readers and their families.

Our third event, supported by the Community Relations Council for Good Relations Week, will take the form of a rehearsed reading by pupils of Sinéad Lunny Speech & Drama Banbridge, followed by a chat with Esther Bloch, Walter's sister.
