We welcome you back for the 34th annual ROAD RALLY!
First things first - this event is in NO WAY private. The only exclusive part about it is the fact that it will take place in good ol' Wisconsin City. That's the original name of Port Washington for you non-townies out there. It's this type of tribal knowledge and skill sets that will come to be quite handy on Wednesday, November 26th (Thanksgiving Day Eve). Here's the who, what, where, when, why, and how about this stoic tradition.
What: Danger, Excitement, and Romance all balled into one fun-filled, semi-athletic event. Teams are given clues and riddles that, when solved, lead you to the next clue. Collect all the clues and return back in the quickest time and you win the pot! Pack your brains and balls, because this will be one helluv an adventure. A test of both speed, endurance, bravery, city pride, townie knowledge, and a little luck perhaps.
Who: You and as many of your friends as you can fit into 1, and only 1 car, van, RV, or short bus. Age is only a number in this light hearted, overly-aggressive contest, and we don't discriminate. Come prepared to registration with a team name and secret password. This is important. There will be a CAP at 20 teams! Also, this guideline has been mentioned in the past and it continues to hold true: you don't have to be a townie to play, but having one in the car wouldn't hurt. Just saying.
Where: The registration and starting point is the BACK ROOM at THE SHIPYARD BAR. Patronize, patronize, patronize. Drink beer, order drinks, have fun.
When: Registration will begin at 6:15 pm. First team will be handed the first clue PROMPTLY at 7pm. The remaining teams will be sent out approx. 5 mins apart thereafter. Most winning teams have finished in around 45-75 minutes, depending on the year.
Why: Because you know you want to hold the title of Pdub Townie Road Rally Champion for the next 365 days. Also, it is a great way to have fun with your family and friends the night before Thanksgiving. You will love reminiscing about the clues and challenges you encounter.
Cost and kitty: Cost is $10 per player (we will NOT have change(OK, maybe a little)). Winning team takes home the entire pot or buys the organizers a few cold ones. Up to them. But show some respect!
