SAVE THE DATE! No to NESE Rally! Tuesday, September 9th at 4:00pm in Monmouth County at Bayshore Waterfront Park (719 Port Monmouth Rd, Port Monmouth, NJ 07758).
A coalition of environmental and advocacy organizations, along with government leadership, will rally together, urging Governor Murphy to reject Williams Transco’s Northeast Supply Enhancement Project (NESE).
The proposed project includes the construction of a new massive two-engine gas-fired compressor station that would be built near the Trap Rock Quarry in Franklin Township. Plus, 3.5 new miles of connecting natural gas pipeline that would go through Old Bridge, Sayreville, and South Amboy, and run 23 miles through the Raritan Bay, putting New Jerseyans and our ecosystems in danger.
New Jersey will not receive any energy or benefits from this project; instead, we will be left with a compressor station and pipeline that will have permanent impacts on our communities.
NESE threatens our clean water: The project will dump toxic chemicals in our water, harm critical wetlands that help against flooding, pollute our freshwater resources, and endanger wildlife and marine ecosystems
NESE threatens our clean air: The project will spew cancer-causing pollutants into our air, emit 15 million tons of greenhouse gases per year, cause pipeline leakage and ozone emissions, and increase the threat of fire and explosion that puts local ecology and communities at risk. This project will increase the risk of asthma, cardiovascular disease, respiratory diseases and more.
Join us as we rally against the unneeded project!
