The spotlight falls on the greatest music of the 80’s, the decade which spawned bad hair and outrageous fashion, as Centrestage pays tribute to a dozen of your favourite bands of the 80s in “The Magnificent 80’s”.
On the 4th of December, The Magnificent 80s will take you once again on a nostalgic trip to a decade that blended stadium rock, new wave, electronica and pop metal. With its commercial, catchy hooks and increased pop aesthetic, the era launched a new level of lighters aloft, spandex, and the marriage of guitar and keyboards.
The Centrestage All-Star Band, will recreate some of the most popular bands of this distinctive period.
Helmed by musical director Thuba Myeki, the band features keyboard players Rory McClaren, Abigail Pitie, and Kalyn Du Plessis; Dylan Du Plessis on lead guitar; Gino Fabbri and Dean de Necker on drums; Curtis Kettledas on saxophone; and vocalists Thuba Myeki, Tara Jane Stern, Kalyn Du Plessis, Rory McClaren, Gino Fabbri and Mieka Swanepoel.
R80 food options are available via pre-order. Choose between an individual platter, Pulled beef Lasagna, Veg Lasagne, or Thai Chicken. Orders must be placed before 15:00 the day before the event.
