Discover the region’s stunning geological features through classroom rock labs and full-day field trips. These are great classes for hikers, naturalists, rock hounds, and anyone wanting to connect to this area’s geological treasures! Taught by Professor Dann May.

Explore the geology of three popular beaches on the Olympic Peninsula. An evening classroom presentation with rock lab will be followed by a field trip to Beach 4 (south of Ruby Beach), Ruby Beach, and Rialto Beach (west of Forks). Students will caravan to field trip locations starting at the Forks Campus, and details will be discussed during the classroom portion. Weather permitting, students are invited to stay after class for a potluck BBQ on Rialto Beach.
