Join the West Baton Rouge Museum on Friday, June 20, 2025 from 6 – 8 PM for Historical Happy Hour for an evening of live music celebrating our latest installation of Creole themed exhibits. This month’s featured musical guest performers will be BeauSoleil, an award-winning group known as “the best Cajun band in the world!”
For over fifty years, BeauSoleil has been performing Louisiana French music from traditional to modern all around the globe. This Grammy-winning group is influenced by jazz, blues, rock, zydeco, bluegrass, swamp pop, and of course, the traditional Cajun and Creole music of the place they call home in Acadiana. Since their founding in 1975, they have toured extensively in the U.S. and internationally. They have been a part of CODOFIL’s annual "Tribute to Cajun Music" in Lafayette, the Smithsonian Folklife Festival, and other jazz and folk festivals around the world. They have also appeared on film soundtracks such as The Big Easy, Passion Fish and Belizaire the Cajun, tv shows including CNN’s Showbiz Today, Austin City Limits, Late Night with Conan O'Brien, and Emeril Live, and the popular radio show, Garrison Keillor's Prairie Home Companion.
This FREE event is open to the public. This performance will take place outdoors at the Juke Joint stage on the grounds of the West Baton Rouge Museum near 6th Street. At Historical Happy Hour, the drinks are on you, and the history is on us. All are invited to bring blankets, folding chairs, and refreshments to enjoy on the museum grounds. In the event of inclement weather, the event will move indoors.
