Join West Coast SUP Adventures for our comprehensive Paddle Canada Touring SUP Skills Level 1 Certification course in the stunning Granite Falls area. This 3-day, 2-night immersive experience is designed for experienced paddlers looking to gain the essential knowledge, skills, and confidence to plan and execute safe and enjoyable extended SUP trips.
What You'll Learn & Experience:
- Navigation & Planning: Master the basics of route planning using charts and GPS, understand weather forecasts, tides, and currents to create safe itineraries. Learn to factor in wind and water conditions.
- Safety & Risk Management: Develop crucial safety plans, learn risk assessment for various environments, and understand emergency procedures, including communication and basic first aid. Identify and mitigate hazards on multi-day excursions.
- Camping & Wilderness Skills: Acquire essential coastal camping skills, including campsite selection considering environmental factors, fire safety, Leave No Trace principles, food storage (bear safety), and preparation.
- Paddling Techniques for Touring: Refine your efficient forward stroke for longer distances, improve paddling in wind and waves (bracing and control), learn to paddle effectively with a loaded board, and develop efficient group paddling techniques.
- Equipment & Gear: Gain in-depth knowledge on selecting and packing appropriate gear for multi-day trips, including clothing systems, food/water considerations, camping equipment, and necessary safety/repair items. Understand the pros and cons of different touring SUPs and gear.
- On-the-Water Learning: Practice these skills during a scenic paddle to our campsite in Granite Falls, with expert guidance from certified instructor Drew Climie and our guide Dennis Gamboa
- Paddle Canada Certification: Upon successful completion, receive a nationally recognized Paddle Canada Touring SUP Skills Level 1 certification.
- Prerequisite for Future Adventures: This certification is a required prerequisite for our exciting Fly Fishing Granite Falls multi-day experience later this season!

Prerequisites:
