Responsible natural hazard planning by people working in councils includes helping communities manage the risk from hazards such as flooding – now and into the future.
Wellington Water, on behalf of Porirua City Council, has updated two flood hazard maps to show the impacts of flooding in Mana and Pukerua Bay. These maps will inform Porirua City Council’s District Plan.
To ensure our maps are correct, we want to confirm that they match your lived experience of flood risk if you live in these neighbourhoods.
Together, we’re running four community drop-in sessions in October. You don’t need to book in to attend, simply turn up to any of these sessions. You can chat with our experts, or look at the maps to see if they match your experience.
Your knowledge is important to help us understand the complex world of flooding. We want to present the maps created and give you an opportunity to share your photos, stories or flooding observations with us – whether this in on your property, local street or neighbourhood, or even a nearby stream or river.
We look forward to seeing you there!
