Savannah Ogeechee Canal Trail Cleanup Day! Saturday, March 14th, 9AM-12PM.
Meet at the canal trail on Easthaven Blvd in Pooler. 📍Natures Court, Pooler, GA, 31322 will get you close and you’ll see us.
This will be a hands-on trail cleanup day focused on a ~0.5-mile section of over grown trail from Easthaven Blvd south towards Quacco road. Upon arrival, we will go over the details of the cleanup, then we will work together to clear the overgrown trail.
Please wear closed-toe shoes, bring water, and dress for outdoor work. Expect uneven terrain in spots, but the trail is generally pretty flat. Please do not wonder off alone to clean or do work. Be mindful of wildlife.
What we’ll be working on:
• Clearing the downed trees on the trail.
• Trimming trees and branches along the trail
• Raking and clearing the path
• Litter cleanup throughout the corridor
Tools to bring (if you have them):
Chainsaw, Clippers or loppers, Rakes, String trimmers / W**d whackers, Hand or battery-powered saws, Gloves, Trash bags, Anything useful for hauling brush (wheel barrow/tarp).
No tools required to participate, but more would be helpful (especially chainsaw, loppers, and string trimmers)
This will complete the section of trail from Little Neck road to I-16, providing some much needed nature access for the neighborhoods along/off Quacco road.
We’ll send out a reminder closer to the date for those who rsvp. Thanks for being part of making this trail better — many hands make light work! See you out there and many thanks from the Savannah Ogeechee Canal Museum and Nature Center!
