About the event

Decolonise Now: March for Climate Justice
🖤🌍 MARCH FOR CLIMATE JUSTICE – XR BCP & FRIENDS 🌍🖤
📅 Saturday 11th October
📍 Starting at Poole Park | 🕛 Time midday

This Black History Month, Extinction Rebellion BCP invites you to march for climate justice — in solidarity with communities around the world fighting for survival, dignity, and liberation.

Together with green, racial justice, social justice and animal rights groups, we will take to the streets to demand justice for people, animals and planet. From Big Oil’s destruction in Africa to the evictions of Indigenous people in the name of conservation — colonialism is not a thing of the past. It's fuelling the climate crisis.

🚫 In the UK too, inequality is embedded in our relationship with the natural world. People from ethnic minority backgrounds are far less likely to have access to green space — a form of environmental injustice that reflects the deep, systemic inequality at the heart of the climate crisis.

🔊 Our messages include:
✊ “Climate Justice = Debt Cancellation”
🌱 “No More Evicting Indigenous Peoples in the Name of Conservation”
🔥 “Decolonise Climate Activism”
🛡️ “Indigenous Defenders’ Lives Matter”
💰 “Reparations for People of the Global South”

💥 XR BCP will focus on Perenco’s harmful operations in Africa, and we welcome other groups to march on these and other themes:
📌 The colonial roots of the climate crisis
📌 The ongoing murder of Indigenous land protectors
📌 Neo-colonialism and Big Oil in the Global South
📌 Links between genocide, animal agriculture, and ecocide — from Gaza to the Amazon
📌 Communities in the Global South have done the least to contribute to the climate crisis yet are among those suffering the worst impacts
📌 Women, Black and Indigenous peoples, other racialised communities, the disabled and LGBTQIA+ people are disproportionately affected by the climate crisis

🌈 Come with your banners, your drums, your voices, and your love for justice. Let’s make visible the often erased truths at the heart of climate breakdown — and stand in solidarity with those fighting its worst impacts.

🌿 All are welcome. United, we are powerful.

We'll assemble in Poole Park (///nearly.festivity.saves) and set off at midday, finishing at Poole Quay - a location associated with slavery.
