We are celebrating NAIDOC Week 2025 with a special screening of the acclaimed Australian movie High Ground at the historic Majestic Theatre in Pomona.
Directed by Stephen Maxwell, High Ground is based on historical events surrounding the 1911 Gan Gan massacre of Arnhem Land First Nations people by police and settlers. The film is a fictionalised retelling of a true story about the disastrous consequences of a clash of cultures and the lost opportunity for a shared future based on understanding and respect.
It has a 90 per cent rating on Rotten Tomatoes and movie reviewer David Stratton praised its โravishing cinematographyโ and powerful story.
Even if you saw it the first time, we hope you will join allies and friends at this special viewing, which brings to life the NAIDOC 2025 theme: The Next Generation: Strength, Vision and Legacy.
