Let's Talk Art: An Evening with Open AIR feat. Art, Music & Place
Join us for a special evening discovering Open AIR, Montana’s place-based artist-in-residence program that fosters creative exchange between artists and the diverse landscapes and communities of our region. Presented by Stoney Samsoe, Executive Director and co-founder at Open AIR, this event will showcase the power of place-based art and the connections it inspires.
The evening will feature live music by singer-songwriter Kate Mostad. Alumni to the Open AIR's residency at the Flathead Lake Biological Station Kate will play music developed during her time at FLBS. Her work often reflects on the natural world, from the landscapes, to the plants, to the events and relationships that take place in their midst. Her passion for nature takes her around the state studying wildflowers and learning more about the intricacies of our ecosystems.
The program will also include a reading by Eva-Maria Maggi, a political scientist and writer whose creative nonfiction explores the deep relationships between landscape, identity, and belonging. Originally from Germany and now based in Montana, Eva-Maria’s upcoming Open AIR residency at FLBS this fall will support her current book project, which weaves personal stories with research on cultural and political transformation in the American West.
Come curious, leave inspired.
