Get ready for rocks, minerals, and fall fun galore at the NEMA Fall Mineral Tailgate Sale! Dozens of vendors will be lined up with rare gems and minerals, including the Maine Mineral & Gem Museum, which — as usual — will be bringing something truly out of this world!
MMGM will bring specimens from its renowned meteorite collection, including rocks from the Moon and Mars. Attendees can see these treasures up close, snap a selfie, and learn about Maine’s geological legacy in the shadow of one of Maine’s historic mines.
The historic Havey Quarry in Poland, Maine — famed for its spectacular tourmaline — hosts the New England Mineral Association’s fall tailgate. Attendees can take non-collecting mine tours to learn more about the legendary finds like “Otto’s Pocket,” which in 2011 revealed spectacular blue-green tourmaline and morganite.
Whether you’re here to shop for gems, take a quarry tour, or hold a rock from outer space, the Tailgate Sale at Havey Quarry connects Maine’s mineral history with today’s discoveries in a one-of-a-kind fall gathering.
