Pastoral & Spiritual Support Service, Plymouth, United Kingdom
NHS was founded in 1948 with the aim of providing healthcare free at the point of delivery. Over the years it has evolved, delivered many important milestones and became one of the world’s leading healthcare systems. Every country has its own healthcare system, some are totally private, others based on government backed health insurance or mix of both. The international students have to pay the NHS health surcharge along with their visa application fees but the students are not fully aware of how to access the NHS services if the need arises and many don’t even register with the GP until they are unwell. We hope to provide the students a general overview of how the NHS works and importance of registering with the GP and how to access its services.
No need to book to attend - just drop in! There will be repeats of the same 15 minutes presentation within the hour slot.
Event held at Pastoral & Spiritual Support lounge, 1 Kirkby Terrace (opp James Street Vaults pub).
