Join us to celebrate Midsummer and the longest day of the year in our private woodlands at Rushcliffe Country Park!
What will this event involve?
As a celebration of nature, this event will incorporate elements of guided forest bathing as well as some nature-based summer solstice themed crafts (beginner friendly, more details to follow for attendees). As usual, we will finish with a cup of freshly foraged summer tea.
What is the summer solstice?
The summer solstice, also known as Midsummer, is the day when the sun reaches its highest point in the sky and we consequently have the most daylight hours, or 'the longest day'. It usually takes place between 20th and 22nd of June (exact date is the 20th this year). It is seen as the astronomical start of summer, and as been culturally significant across Europe since at least prehistoric times.
For many people, it is a fantastic time to truly tune into nature and celebrate our Earth in this moment of light and warmth.
What is Forest Bathing?
Forest Bathing, or ‘shinrin yoku’ in Japanese, is the wonderfully restorative, mindfulness-based practice of immersing oneself in the forest, woodland or any green space. Whether you practise alone, or guided by a trained facilitator as this session will be, you will gently use your senses to connect to the natural world around you. Many studies have shown forest bathing to have a profoundly positive impact on our physical, emotional and mental wellbeing. When practised in a group, it can also provide a lovely, easeful way to not only connect to nature and to ourselves, but to the other people around us.
The event will be guided by a qualified Forest Therapy Practitioner. Additional information will be sent out to all attendees 2 days before the event by email - if you have not received it by then, please check your spam then message me at
