SELF-MONITORING PROGRAM
Tips for correct blood pressure
measurement:
• Use the bathroom. A full bladder can affect your
blood pressure.
• Before taking your blood pressure reading, do
not smoke, exercise, or consume caffeine or
alcohol for at least 30 minutes.
• Sit properly in a chair with your feet flat on the
floor and your back supported.
• Your arms should be bare and fully supported at
heart level.
• Seat still for 5 minutes.
• Take your readings at the same time every day.
• Know your numbers and learn to understand
them.
• Consult your healthcare provider if several
readings are classified as "high.
