Don't forget to sign up for our upcoming TRA site visit at Allegheny Observatory! ✨
Join us on Friday, June 6th, 2025 from 6:30-8:30 PM for a special evening of history, science, engineering, and astronomy at the Allegheny Observatory in Riverside Park. Kerry Handron, Outreach Specialist from the University of Pittsburgh, will lead the tour by giving us an inside look at the Observatory's historical domes, telescopes, lecture hall/library, and the rotunda. By 8:00 PM, we'll even be able to use the telescope from 1860 to observe the Moon!
Tickets are free and there are many available open seats left - be sure to reserve your spot through the Eventbrite link below:

Directions:
Allegheny Observatory is located at 159 Riverview Ave in the Perry North neighborhood on Pittsburgh's North Side. If you are coming from Pittsburgh on I-279, take Exit 4 for Hazlett St. Turn left on East St. Do NOT turn left on Milroy, but continue to the fourth light and bear left to stay on East St. Your mapping program will reroute you to turn left at the next light onto Perry Highway and right onto Riverview Ave. If your mapping program leaves you in front of a tiny visitor center, just turn right at the stop sign and go up the hill. Park on the right hand side of the road that loops around the building (parking is free!).
For those coming by bus: you'll want to take the 8 (Perrysville) or 15 (Charles/Summer Hill) to the Perrysville Ave + Watson Boulevard stop. From there, it's a 13-minute walk along Riverview Avenue to the Observatory in Riverview Park.
Accessibility:
There is a handicapped accessible ramp in the back with a bell to ring at the top. Please note that some parts of the tour require steps.
Extra Info:
The domes of the observatory are the same temperature as outside and we will be spending a significant amount of time in them, so dress accordingly!
We're looking forward to seeing everyone at this event!
