Hailing from Detroit's brutal Eastside, producer, lyricist, and storyteller Esham rose to legendary status at the young age of 15 when his debut album "Boomin Words From Hell" sold over 100K copies solely by word-of-mouth. The infamous and highly coveted "red tape" details the perils of being young and black in a city ravaged by drugs and violence – and Esham's wavering faith.
Scathing with religious, sexual, and political commentary, Esham blurred the lines between genres to create a new sound that was unlike anything anyone had ever heard. His recipe became a blueprint for a whole new style of music that inspired some of our generation's most notorious artists.
Over the years, Esham has amassed a devoted following and secured his place in hip-hop history as the originator of the Wicked Shit and president of Reel Life Productions. With 50+ releases and counting, he continues to push the envelope and reinvent his sound – giving fans and critics – something to talk about.
