Artist Statement:

Color Stories is a vibrant celebration of joy, play, and creative renewal through collage.

This two-person exhibition features works by Emily Krill and Julia K. Toal—artists who transform found materials into bold, joyful compositions that radiate with energy and optimism. In a time marked by overwhelm and uncertainty, these works offer a visual breath of fresh air.

By giving discarded materials new life, the artists embrace a process of transformation, turning the old into something fresh and new. The resulting pieces are playful, dynamic, and full of color, inviting viewers to slow down, connect, and take in a moment of brightness.

This show is a reminder that beauty can be found in the everyday—and that joy is an act of resistance, resilience, and hope.

About the Artists:

Emily Krill - Emily is a collage artist known for her vibrant, large-scale works created from antique paper ephemera. Her playful, narrative-rich pieces explore the charm of vintage materials with bold color and dynamic composition. Julia K. Toal - A painter, printmaker, and art therapist, Julia’s work explores emotion, identity, and the beauty of imperfection. With a BFA from SAIC and a Master’s in Creative Arts Therapy from Drexel, she integrates her clinical work with her creative practice.
