really pleased to bag this one, in the middle of a very busy year touring with The Skids, Armoury Show and book events, Richard Jobson will be appearing at Sounds of the Suburbs for an intimate discussion and book reading/signing.
the main focus of the event will be around the book
Another Dead Soul
a synopsis
inspired by the tragic deaths of Amy Winehouse and Avicci, Another Dead Soul is a reflection on the corruption of responsibility to an artists vulnerability, where art is a money making tree that is shaken until nothing left.
set as a series of dream like vignettes, memories overlap and collide as a manager is haunted by his actions.
living in a parallel universe to the fans who buy the music and attend the shows, his drug addled personality finds a natural home in a world of private planes, five star hotel suites, and Russian billionaires parties.
he deceives, abuses, exhorts and makes people disappear who might get in the way of his vision, at the heart of that vision is him, the deal maker the untouchable king of all he surveys, a combination of morals decrepitude and nihilism as a lifestyle, leads him on a downward spiral of paranoia and fear.
this is just one of several books he has written, alongside his extensive film and TV presenting and directing, and let's not forget his beginnings as front man for Scottish punk Rockers The Skids who moved on to be big chart stars with regular Top of the Pops appearances in the late 70s early 80s, after Skids, he formed critically acclaimed post punk, New Wave act The Armoury Show which also featured top guitarist, John McGeogh,
this man I'm sure has plenty of stories to tell, and it will be up to out host, Radio Wokings Keith Woodhouse to get the best of them from him, an entertaining afternoon is in store for us.
