Matt Edwards is a songwriter/vocalist/guitarist and session musician based in the south of England. He has released 4 studio albums to date and is releasing a new 6 song EP in 2025. He is playing just 4 gigs in August to showcase the songs and one of those gigs is at The Tropic. Matt's influences come from blues, soul, funk, rock and jazz, giving his song writing a unique style but always based around the blues.

Matt has been touring constantly in the UK and Europe since 2011 with his own live band and solo shows, as well as many gigs playing guitar for other bands and artists such as Alice Armstrong, Stuart Maxwell and many more.

In 2018 Matt released his exciting studio album ‘BACKWARD ROOTS’. An eclectic collection of songs, showcasing why Edwards is something different in the Blues Rock scene. Featuring Richard Newman (Paul Rodgers, Steve Marriot) on drums and Stuart Dixon (Geno Washington, Greg Coulson) on bass.
