Dr. Tyrone Jackson, a native of Rosedale, Mississippi, currently serves as President of Southeast Arkansas College, a role he assumed on July 1, 2024. He holds a bachelor's degree in sociology and both a master's and doctoral degree in education from Delta State University, where he also began his career in higher education. Dr. Jackson held several progressively responsible roles at Delta State, including Admissions Counselor, Associate Director of Housing and Residence Life/Director of Multi-Cultural Affairs, and later Director, Assistant Dean, and Interim Dean of Graduate and Continuing Studies. During his tenure, he revitalized the Graduate Studies Office and led the program to record enrollment growth. His leadership journey continued at Mississippi Gulf
Coast Community College, where he served as Associate Vice President and Dean of Student Services. He later joined Hinds Community College as Associate Vice President for Student Services and Vice President of the Utica Campus. Most recently, he served five years as President of Mississippi Delta Community College, becoming the institution’s first African American president.
Dr. Jackson is an active civic leader, having served on boards for Habitat for Humanity, United Way, United Village, the Gulfport Chamber of Commerce, and the Mississippi Humanities Council. He is a graduate of multiple leadership programs and currently serves on the Board of Trustees for the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools
Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC). A member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., he is honored by a scholarship in his name at MDCC. Among his many achievements, Dr. Jackson is most proud of his family: his wife, Kashanta, and their children, Tyler and Kennedi.
