Cambodia’s digital Maps on Google Maps are more important than ever. From how tourists find our landmarks to how local businesses appear online, accurate map data has a direct impact on our economy, culture, and national identity.
On Saturday, 6 September 2025 (9:30 AM – 12:00 PM at Phnom Penh, the Cambodia Local Guides Connect Community will host the launch of our Digital Sovereignty Initiative with a special event: “Reclaiming Our Digital Space: Community Report Launch.”
At this event, we will:
- Present our research findings from 18 provinces across Cambodia
- Show how communities can systematically improve map quality
- Connect Local Guides, businesses, and community leaders
- Build a clear action framework for future improvement
This is a small and focused gathering (with a maximum of 30 participants) designed to raise awareness, share practical tools, and build a network committed to protecting and enhancing Cambodia’s digital presence.
If you care about digital literacy, community empowerment, tourism, or online safety, as a journalist, this event is for you. Together, we can make sure Cambodia is represented accurately and proudly on the world’s map.
