The Birth Project: A Celebration of Birth, Music & Community

You’re warmly invited to a special evening of music, reflection, and celebration. Join artists Elise Mark, Marcelle McGuirk, and Abby LaVecchia—alongside Philadelphia-based pregnancy and postpartum care providers—to celebrate the incredible journey of pregnancy, childbirth, and community care through song and shared presence.

This is a donation-based event — all are welcome.

Abigail LaVecchia is a pianist based in Philadelphia. She is on the faculty of the classical voice and choir departments at the Boyer College of Music at Temple University. Abigail is music director at Morrisville United Methodist Church, where she is organist and director of the chancel and bell choirs. She is a piano teacher at Friends Select School. Abigail holds a Master of Music in Collaborative Piano and a Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance from Temple University where she was a student of Charles Abramovic and Lambert Orkis. She lives in South Philadelphia with her husband Patrick, daughter Socorro, and dog Wolfgang.

Elise Mark is a musician, teaching artist, arts organizer, and creative facilitator passionate about building community through creativity. As the founder of Creative Becoming and leader of the Chill Choir, Elise creates welcoming spaces for artistic exploration and connection. She’s excited to share this project as a new mom, and to include motherhood as a natural and evolving part of her creative and facilitation practice.
