It’s here…
Applied Mechanics wants to share our first workshop showing of RUN BEN RUN with you!
“Long live Ben & Ben!
Goodbye, Ben & Ben.”
Using drag, choreography, and an absurd original script, Run Ben Run tears into American myths about Great Men In History. The performers will take on the roles of Bens both real and fictional, including but not limited to: Ben Franklin, Ben Affleck, and Uncle Ben. The Bens wrestle with identity, fame, and the process by which one man becomes a way for the country to sell the idea of itself. We’re excited to turn the lens on our own home of Philadelphia – a city shot through with conflicting tales of founding fathers – to make some hilarious mischief.
This free event is the first sharing of our new show and the inauguration of our collaboration with Christ Church Neighborhood House! CCNH has hosted us many times in the past, including for theatrical shenanigans at their farmer’s market, our show Black Market in 2016, and two runs of our 26-actor Napoleonic fantasia VAINGLORIOUS. We are so pleased to be back with them for this campy political satire, RUN BEN RUN. This piece is set to premiere in 2026, just in time for the country’s 250th Birthday.
