Great Vespers & Lytia - 1700th Anniversary of the Council of Nicaea

Join us at St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church for a momentous occasion! We will be celebrating the 1700th anniversary of the First Ecumenical Council of Nicaea with Great Vespers & Lytia according to the Byzantine Rite. This special service will take place on the eve of the Seventh Sunday of Easter – the Sunday of the Fathers of the First Ecumenical Council.

This event marks the first collaboration of Durandus on a Byzantine liturgical form and will feature a men's ensemble of chanters presenting a special program of sacred music under the direction of Fr. Herman Majkrzak. Our Guest Preacher for the evening will be Fr. Samuel Keyes from St. John the Baptist in Bridgeport, PA.

The Council of Nicaea, convened in May of 325 A.D., was a pivotal moment in Christian history, addressing the Arian controversy, defining the dogma of the Trinity, and establishing a unified date for Easter.

Confessions will be heard throughout the service, offering an excellent opportunity for spiritual preparation for Sunday.
