Community singing is a technology that many cultures have used for centuries to gather, grieve, celebrate and experience life. We will come together to revive and relive this tradition in the world we find ourselves in now with songs born from within our community. Katie will teach songs call and response, in a circle unamplified. This is a secular space, focused on songs that nourish and support a sense of community, belonging, and self love. There will be rounds, part songs, harmonies and unison with any and all voices embraced, celebrated and welcomed. No experience necessary!

Katie Sontag (she/her) writes and teaches nourishing songs that celebrate self love and remind us that all feelings are welcome. At Katie’s song circles, you will laugh, cry, make new friends, and feel better than when you came. Her music has been described as "a big hug." Katie’s songs have traveled all over the country. She is also a singer/songwriter and a seasoned performer. She has released 3 albums of original music and a songbook. To learn more and listen: katiesontag.com

Tickets:

Sliding scale from $22–$44 (No Refunds)

Sliding scale offered to allow for you to find a contribution amount that works for you! Your support helps Katie travel to our community and share her medicine. If finances are the reason you would not be able to attend please contact us for other options.

We prefer tickets to be bought before event, which helps put ease in organizing, but tickets will be available at the door. If you do buy tickets day of please come no later than 6:45

Schedule

Arrive and settle in: 6:30pm

Doors close: 7pm

Song circle container: 7-9pm

What to bring

Water bottle (or thermos with tea)

Cushions/blankets to sit on (there will be some chairs provided for those who need seating but if you want to sit on the floor with please bring cushions/blankets/etc to sit on and to be cozy.

(There will be times we are sitting, times we will be standing or possibly jumping/dancing/walking around)

Health precautions: this event is indoors, please don’t come if you are showing symptoms that could be infectious. Masks are optional, distance yourself at your level of comfort.

Ticket Refund Policy

All sales are final: No refunds will be issued for ticket purchases.

Ticket transfers: If you're unable to attend, you can transfer your ticket to someone else. Please have them use the same name that was used for the original purchase.

Children

Children are welcome to join us at no cost . Song circles can be a very sensitive and delicate experience, so we ask that the gardian is very mindful of minimizing disruption and distraction in order to honor and respect those holding space and teaching songs, as well as fostering a conducive environment for participants to be able to feel the fullness of what song circles can bring up.

Something to be aware of
Although song circles can be extremely uplifting, singing can also potentially activate deeper emotions to arise (such as grief).
