Petoskey Audubon September 9 Program – “Research Findings from the Charlevoix Fisheries Research St

Join Petoskey Audubon on Tuesday, September 9, for a program featuring research findings from the Charlevoix Fisheries Research Station, with Patrick Hanchin. Hanchin will be providing an overview of recent research and findings from the station including updates on whitefish populations, salmon stocking in Lake Michigan, bloater chub status and zebra mussels effect on native species.

The Charlevoix Fisheries Research Station is dedicated to conducting long-term assessments on Lake Michigan to inform appropriate fisheries management. Staff from the station also conduct novel research investigating stressors on important recreational and commercial fish species.

Patrick Hanchin has worked for the Michigan Department of Natural Resources for 23 years, having served as senior Fisheries Biologist, Manager of the Tribal Coordination Unit, and Lake Superior Basin Coordinator. He is currently the Manager of the Charlevoix Fisheries Research Station.

The program begins at 7pm and it is free and open to the public. It takes place in the conference room at Northern Lights Recreation, 8865 Harbor Petoskey Rd. (M-119), Harbor Springs.
