Nicholas Campbell & The Metre Cheaters

Blending the raw energy of rock ‘n’ roll’s golden era with the smooth charm of 1960s countrypolitan, Peterborough Ontario’s 20-year-old Nicholas Campbell is quickly earning a reputation as “the real deal.” Campbell began playing guitar at 10 and gigging by 11, finding his stride during the pandemic, and forming a tight-knit live band, The Meter Cheaters.

Their 2021 debut Livin’ and Other Western Ideas introduced audiences to a dynamic mix of rockabilly, western swing, and honky tonk. The follow-up, Gonna Have a Ball Tonight! (2024), recorded live off the floor with producer James McKenty, cemented the group’s status with international airplay across North America and Europe. In the same year, they released He Said She Said, the first single from a forthcoming third album.

Touring relentlessly with over 195 shows a year, recent milestones include working with Chris Spedding on A Rockabilly Boogie: A Tribute to Robert Gordon, opening for The Jim Cuddy Band, and backing JUNO winners Jake Vaadeland & The Sturgeon River Boys with Paul Brandt. With a third full-length album set for release in 2025, Nicholas Campbell & The Meter Cheaters continue to ignite stages and airwaves worldwide.
