Hate trying on swimsuits, or always struggling to find the right fit? Then this is the class for you!
We're making our pattern, based on our body measurements, for a basic two-piece women's bathing suit, so you can customize and sew as many well-fitting suits as you need!
This class is suitable for an adventurous beginner to intermediate sewist - some experience sewing stretch fabrics will be helpful.
Swimsuit fabric is included with the class, in black. Students are welcome to bring their own fabric to class if different color is desired. A great option is to make the first suit in the fabric provided to test fit, then sew another suit in the fabric pattern of your choice. We'll discuss fabric selection during class.
Class 1: Bottoms - We'll measure ourselves, and create our patterns for a pair of basic, full coverage, bathing suit bottoms. We'll also go over some customizing options for high-waisted or ruched details, depending on wearer preference and sewing experience. Get started with the basics of sewing swimwear fabric, using swim elastic, and using a serger. Please bring a pair of well fitting bathing suit bottoms or underwear to help with pattern making.
Class 2: Tops - We'll build on our swimsuit sewing skills and create a pullover sport bra style swim top based on our body measurements. Additional options for customizing straps and neckline given. If possible, please bring a well fitting bathing suit top or sports bra to help with pattern making.
