Sunda Talks: Kedah, the Ancient Malay Kingdom by Tunku Taufek Mansur

The ancient kingdom, and later sultanate, of Kedah has existed long before the Melaka sultanate but this narrative has somehow not been at the forefront of our collective memory about our nation’s ancient origins.

𝙏𝙪𝙣𝙠𝙪 𝙏𝙖𝙪𝙛𝙚𝙠 𝙈𝙖𝙣𝙨𝙪𝙧 (or Tommy for short) has been a driving force behind the book 𝙆𝙚𝙙𝙖𝙝: 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝘼𝙣𝙘𝙞𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝙈𝙖𝙡𝙖𝙮 𝙆𝙞𝙣𝙜𝙙𝙤𝙢, which was authored by the late Jim Redmond. Tunku Taufek is now on a re-energised mission to deepen our appreciation for the rich history of the land that we live in.

In this talk, Tommy will shine a light on the origins of the Malay people and their cultural heritage, by laying out the factual chronology of historical events in Kedah and elsewhere in Southeast Asia.
