From the smoky clubs of New Orleans to the grand concert halls of the world, jazz is the electrifying story of rhythm, rebellion, and reinvention. Born at the turn of the 20th century from a fusion of African, Caribbean, and European traditions, jazz evolved through the swing of the big band era, the daring improvisation of bebop, and the raw emotion of blues and hard bop.
In this performance, Libby Hammer and her quintet take you on a journey through that rich, ever-evolving history – celebrating the legends, the grooves, and the spirit that made jazz not just a genre, but a movement.
A fixture on Perth’s jazz scene, Libby is known for crafting vibrant, engaging performances full of musicality, storytelling, and joyful authenticity.
