Bomin Kim is a New York-based jazz pianist, composer known for her genre-crossing versatility and evocative musical storytelling. A graduate of the Manhattan School of Music, she has performed in celebrated venues across Korea and the U.S., including Jazz on Main, Dizzy’s Club at Jazz at Lincoln Center, ShapeShifter Lab, and Nublu, as well as on a national tour in Korea with the Bomin Kim Group in 2025.
She has collaborated across genres, from jazz and classical to K-pop and musical theater. Highlights include a joint performance with the UN Symphony Orchestra at the United Nations (2024), the ASCAP Foundation Recipients Concert at the Library of Congress (2023), and past work as an arranger and keyboardist for televised programs like SBS’s K-pop star 5,6.
Bomin Kim’s music, as the awardee of the 2023 AAPI Songwriter Scholarship from Ascap Foundation, is characterized by highly poetic and lyrical melodies, along with distinctive classical harmonic progressions. The synergy between her well-crafted, melodic original compositions and the exceptional improvisational performances of accompanying musicians is enough to bring great joy and satisfaction to audiences. Her colorful arrangements of standards, infused with her unique style, and the polished band sound developed over two years of school band experience, also provide ample entertainment for jazz enthusiasts on your night.
Her discography reflects her multidimensional artistry, with original EPs *Again by Accident* (2022) and *Dear* (2021), where she took on roles as producer, composer, lyricist, vocalist, and pianist. She is also featured on Seungmin Jung Sextet’s *Anecdotes* (2025).
BOMiN has been honored with the ASCAP Foundation AAPI Songwriter Scholarship, Composer Awards from the Musical Theater Association of Korea, and was a semifinalist in the 7 Virtual Jazz Club Competition (2024). She has studied under renowned jazz educators such as Jeremy Manasia, Phil Markowitz, and Aaron Parks, and participated in master classes with artists including Harmen Fraanje and Tineke Postma.
With roots in Seoul and a growing presence in New York’s jazz scene, Bomin continues to craft music that bridges cultures and defies boundaries.
