Amapiano
Samuel Seloane, popularly known as Stixx, is an Amapiano producer who hails from Kwa-Thema and Selcourt in the East Rand. Born in 2003 into a family of singers and instrumentalists, Stixx has always been surrounded by music. Young Samuel first picked up drumsticks at the tender age of two and has never looked back. By 2015, the multi-instrumentalist would venture into producing deep house and gospel music. Before pivoting to amapiano in late 2020, Stixx had also dabbled in Afrosoul, neo- soul, and R&B. His independently released 2021 EP Ngeke Balunge introduced the world to his creative abilities. For most of 2022, the wunderkind cut his teeth by attending studio camps. From those sessions and the countless hours invested in harnessing his craft, Stixx got to work with some already-established artists. Impressed by his talent, DBN Gogo extended an open invitation for Stixx to use her studios — later signing him to her record label, Zikode Records. The pair then went on to put out Stixx’s debut single under the stable “Buya.” Stixx secured production credits on Venom & Shishiliza’s LOVE IS PAIN that same month. It’s his flavored, soulful productions on DBN Gogo’s Whats Real and Kelvin Momo’s Amukelani albums that, however, put a spotlight on his name. Having already collaborated with revered producers like Kelvin Momo and Kabza De Small, Stixx is undoubtedly a creative force to be reckoned with and one to watch.
