About Jonah Blacksmith

Jonah Blacksmith was formed by brothers Simon and Thomas Alstrup. The band name is a tribute to their grandfather Johannes Alstrup who was a blacksmith. Jonah Blacksmith released their debut album "Northern Trail" in April 2015, securing a large number of supporters. Danish national radio P4 rotated several songs and at DMA Folk 2015, the band was nominated in three categories. In 2017, the band's second album "Jonah Blacksmith" was released. The album included the two P4 favourites "Once You Love" and "Daughter Of Jonah". In 2020 they followed up with the release of their critically acclaimed third album “Brothers”. After touring Denmark in 2021 the single “House On Fire” and Jonah Blacksmith got their first TOP 5 radio hit and a DMA nomination for radio hit of the year. Early 2023 the House On Fire EP including the radio hit “Ocean” feat. ROYA was released. In addition to Simon Alstrup (vocals, guitar) and Thomas Alstrup (bass and banjo), Jonah Blacksmith consists of Lasse Alstrup (keys, mandolin), Jon Bisgaard Kjeldsen (keys, banjo), Søren Poulsen (drums), Thor Kortegaard (drums) and Søren Bigum (guitar, pedal-steel).
