Peoria Reads: Sean Gaskell ~ Music of the West African Kora

Listen to a masterful performance by Sean Gaskell, while also learning about the kora, a 21-stringed harp from West Africa that was originally developed by the region's oral historians, the Griots.

This is one of our first Peoria Reads programs for 2025.

Peoria Reads, a one city/one book initiative, involves not just choosing a specific book each year for all Peorians to read. We also try to build related program around the book or main theme of the book. This year's theme is music.

This year's book is Holding the Note: Profiles in Popular Music by David Remnick.

This program is free and open to all ages.
