Finding Separated Family

On Thursday, July 10th, 2025, the Peoria County Genealogical Society will hold its monthly member meeting at the Peoria Public Library North Branch to hear from Jen Nelson. Jen will present her program entitled: Finding Separated Family. Jen will discuss research techniques to reconnect separated family members into your tree. Families were often separated for a variety of reasons - war, poverty, abuse, mental health, epidemics, desertion, and piecing the puzzle back together can take quite a bit of creativity. This is the story of two families in her ancestry that required a lot of creative research to uncover. Jen will be joining us remotely. Participants may join in person or via Zoom.

Jen Nelson began researching her family histories in 2022. While she is still viewed as a 'newbie' to Genealogy, Jen has thrown herself headlong into researching her family histories with the same passion and time committed as she would in a second career. Jen enjoys the narrative of family stories but has been diligent to only build her family tree using verified historical records. Jen's 'day job' is as a software executive.

Free and open to the public.
